Hi
i am a complete idiot when it comes to plumbing, so i need advice.
i want to fit a wireless pumped shower as my water pressure is very low, as it is gravity fed. I am assuming being wireless, i will not need an electrician to fit it but a qualified plumber.
how good is one of these systems?@. as the cost of it alomost amounts the same as a conventional shoer plus labour, hence I am thinking of installing a wireless.
do i need a plumber to fit or can a well informed person who knows what he/she is doing can fit it? |

Hi
Wireless only means wireless between the control panel and the shower, the shower it’s self needs power .... In the same way as the telly and the remote works.
If you can let me know what wireless you were thinking off I’ll see if we can take it from there _________________ Please visit our Homepage:

Hi shower doc
thanks for your reply. I was thinking something like the Grohe Grohtherm wireless pumped or similar. I assume this has an inbuilt pump for use with low gravtity tank.
will i need to get the wiring done from the fuse box ,like with a traditional pumped shower. Basically what I am trying to do is eliminate the need for wiring if wireless is the way to go.
my cold water tank and hot water cylnder are both in the bathroom. The cold water tank is ontop, which i had it raised to get the correct height for the shower. The fuse box is downstairs.
I hope I make sense.
Looking forward to hear from you. |

yes inbuilt pump for gravity systems.

these systems run a 3 amp fuse that can be a fused spur from the ring main circuit off the wall sockets.
only high kw electric showers need a dedicated supply from the comsumer unit.

when you say you had the cws raised that tells me its only a small tank
which maybe to small to supply a pumped shower as they use alot of water quick and you may run the system dry. |

Hi Both
thanks for the prompt reply. Yes, the cold water tank is not big, i think it is a 20ltr one, not sure. And yes, it does run dry after a long time use as my friend had a pumped shower fitted. if someone is in the shower for a long time it runs dry. But will this affect the showers functionality and longevity?
As the only option I have is to have a pumped shower as the water flow in my flat is not strong enough for a normal shower.

i think your going to end up with problems on a tank of that size.
20 ltr - 4.3 gal.
these showers can use around 16 ltrs/min
and you already say your water flow is poor so the useage rate will be quicker than the fill rate.
i never fit one and i think the manual states a min of 50 gal cws.
if you caused damage due to starvation then i think your warrenty would be void. |

Hi
Hi Spec, Doc. i checked the size of my cws and it is NOT 20 ltrs but 25 gals. So does this mean, i can have a wireless pumped shower?
Does anyone know a good plumber in the leicestershire area. I prefer recommendation than yellow pages.
cheers |

Pretty much as Hi Spec says, 25 Galls = 1 approx 8 min shower, plus a little because the ball valve is making up all the time, 10mins Max...... Then you start to draw in air and damage your pump, would you really want to risk it? _________________ Please visit our Homepage:

I presume that increasing the storage isn’t an option.....IE. fitting another 25gall tank? _________________ Please visit our Homepage:
